Energy commodities trader and convenience store network AS VIRŠI-A (hereafter – Virši) has acquired 20% of the capital shares of SIA "Livland Biomethane" on September 17.
The previous owners of SIA Livland Biomethane, SIA QLC and SIA RG Services, reduced their participation in the company's capital from 50% to 40% each. Chairman of the board at Virši Jānis Vība emphasizes that Virši plans to increase the share of the Company's capital shares in the long term, thus becoming the largest participant.
Also, changes have been made to the board of SIA Livland Biomethane - Jānis Bethers, head of the Energy Department at Virši has been appointed as the chairman of the board of the Company, and Renārs Miķelsons has been appointed as a member of the board.
About the biomethane plant project:
The new plant will use closed anaerobic fermentation technology, processing agricultural manure into biomethane. The main construction partner has been selected Germany-based Company GmbH Bioconstruct which has more than 20 years of experience in the successful implementation of more than 300 biogas/biomethane projects. The plant's designed annual biomethane production will be 60 gigawatt hours (GWh).
It is planned to start biomethane production in the new factory in the second half of 2025. It is planned that the biomethane plant will be located in the Vidzeme region. For the implementation of the project, the company has attracted EUR 12 million in funding from the European Energy Efficiency Fund, while the total cost of the project will reach approximately EUR 15 million.
The shares of AS VIRŠI-A are admitted to trading on Nasdaq Baltic First North Market.
