AS VIRŠI-A (hereinafter – Virši) announces that the sustainability report for the 2023 financial year has been prepared and published, providing an evaluation of the operations of the parent company and subsidiaries within the Virši Group. The report covers legal entities such as AS VIRŠI-A, SIA Virši Logistika and SIA Virši Renergy.
Although the full obligation to prepare a consolidated sustainability report in compliance with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) will come into force for the 2025 financial year, the 2023 sustainability report has been prepared with a gradual application of these requirements. The key performance indicators included in the report reflect the operational areas of Virši, relevant sustainability issues, and associated risks and opportunities.
"In both society and business, issues related to the environment, social matters, and governance (ESG) are becoming increasingly significant. Climate change, resource scarcity, social inequality, discrimination, as well as various crises and conflicts that have intensified over the past decade, vividly reveal the challenges facing modern society. Influenced by these problems, companies must redefine their approach to success and evaluate business results in the context of sustainability, integrating performance metrics with environmental, social, and corporate governance aspects.
In this context, the year 2023 demonstrated Virši's ability not only to respond to these challenges but to also actively expand and diversify its operations. We are purposefully developing future business directions, transitioning from a traditional fuel retail company to an energy resource trader and a network of convenience shopping stores. This strategic transformation not only affirms our ambition to remain competitive but also underscores our commitment to fostering sustainable development across all areas of the Company’s operations, meeting the needs of modern society and addressing future challenges," emphasizes Virši's Sustainability Project Manager, Anrijs Tukulis.
The sustainability report is available in the announcement attachment and on the Company’s website at www.virsi.lv.
