Cleveron Mobility AS (Clevon) started the cooperation in Belgium with Collect&Go belonging to the Colruyt Group

Today, November 23rd 2022, Collect&Go, Colruyt Group's online shopping service, announced testing the state-of-the-art technology CLEVON 1. The vehicle is built by the Estonian technology company Cleveron Mobility AS (brand name Clevon) and combines remote teleoperation with advanced autopilot functionality. The pilot project aims among others to prove to the Colruyt Group the effectiveness of Clevon's vehicles in solving the rapid cost growth of last-mile delivery.

The Clevon's all-electric vehicle CLEVON 1 will drive on the public roads of Belgium. It will cover a 4-kilometre route from the distribution centre to Collect&Go's pick-up point in Londerzeel, a town near Brussels. This is immediately the longest route ever covered in Belgium by an unmanned vehicle.

The objectives of the pilot project are:

  • To test the CLEVON 1 vehicle on Belgium roads and to receive constructive feedback for the technical development and improvement of the product.
  • Test the use of CLEVON 1, as seen by Collect&Go, with the purpose to organize and implement the retailer's business processes and business model according to the feedback received.
  • Receive feedback from users about the experience of using CLEVON 1 and improve the service, vehicle and business processes based on the received feedback.
  • To prove the significant cost reduction of the last-mile delivery when using CLEVON 1.

Sander Sebastian Agur, CEO of Clevon, is confident that the tests will go smoothly in Belgium: "Our third-generation unmanned vehicle CLEVON 1 has the necessary permits to drive on public roads in Estonia, Lithuania and now Belgium. Licence applications are pending in the United States and many other European countries. Our unmanned, all-electric vehicles have already been in city traffic for 2.5 years with an impeccable safety record, proving that the technology is functional and safe for everyone."

The pilot project with Colruyt Group will last several months, and project partners have divided it into phases, which will be taken one by one. After the end of the pilot project, Clevon and Colruyt Group will make the decisions regarding the integration of CLEVON 1 into the business plan of Colruyt Group and possible future orders.
